Dubrovnik, Croatia | What can I say? Croatia is a fantastic place indeed. A really great week of sunshine, sailing, laughs and great company too. 8 of us decided to book a SunSail holiday for a week sailing off the coast of Dubrovnik in Croatia. What a great way to end the summer. We had a wonderful time thanks to the great experience of Greg who happily taught us all how to sail and how to enjoy it too. We all had some aprehension on how all 8 of us would be able to stand each other after 1 week in the confines of a small 40 foot boat! I must say it was really enjoyable and while 8 people on a boat is a little crowded we certainly didn't have any hassles! Our boat 'Sandy Anne' was part of a 10 boat flotilla. The concept is simple - a lead boat cruises around and other boats that are part of the flotilla can get help and general advice while sailing. It's a great chance to meet a lot of cool people as well. We sailed from Dubrovnik around the group of islands to the west. The highlights were the fantastic croatian people - very friendly! The weather and the absolutely unbelievable crystal clear water around the islands - the pod of dolphins that swam next to our boat for a few minutes, really spectacular - the food! Man, the seafood was fantastic! I would highly recommend visiting Croatia anytime. So a really big thank you for the laughs, wonderful company to Pete, Bec, Greg, Laura, Patricia, Jim, Marjory and Bill! It was great to catch with my cousin Bill - you certainly entertained us all for the week mate! |
